Geoffrey Boot
Vice Chairman of AOPA UK, Regional Chairman of AOPA
Isle of Man.
Geoffrey is based on the Isle of Man and holds a
CPL IR with FI Rating. He flies a Siai Marchetti SF260
which he uses as transport and to participate in
handicapped air racing under the auspices of the
Royal Aero Club 3 Rs.
He is a Royal Aero Club Council
Member a member of the PFA ,US AOPA, Association
of Manx Pilots (Committee member) and a great believer
in organisations working together to further our
cause.
On behalf of AOPA he also sits on the CAA
General Aviation Consultative Committee , the General
Aviation Safety Review Working Group and , the Air
Prox Board.
David Bywater
Vice President of AOPA who also serves on the Executive
Committee.
Retired from the Royal Air Force in 1992 after a
career in test flying and subsequently spent ten
years in the aerospace industry as an airport and
flight operations director whilst holding a commercial
pilots Licence with a Flying Instructor Rating.
He is currently an Aviation Consultant, a director
of the Royal International Tattoo, a Fellow of the
Royal Aeronautical Society and a Liveryman of the
Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators.
Pamela Campbell
Director of BLAC, and member and secretary of the
AOPA Executive Committee and Instructor Committee.
Also member of the AOPA Flying Training Policy Group.
Represent AOPA at the CAA FCLTP/EASA Committees
Member of the EASA FCL Licensing Sectorial Team
Represent AOPA UK at IAOPA Regional Meetings (RMs)
and Secretary to the RMs.
Member of the EASA FCL .001 Drafting Group.
Secretary to IAOPA World Assemblies.
Speaker at the AOPA Flight Instructor Refresher
Seminars.
Responsible for production of the AOPA Aerobatic
Course and Syllabus and other Syllabi currently
for JAR-FCL, to become EASA FCL.
Operate the helpline for NPPL enquires.
Charles Strasser OBE SBStJ MSc FCIM
Director of AOPA UK and Chairman of Channel Island
Region of AOPA. Originator and still administers
the AOPA "Strasser Scheme" in which 193 UK airports
and airfields have agreed to waive charges for emergency
and precautionary diversion landings, as recommended
in CAA CAP 667 9.2(c).
He has been an active pilot for 51 years and owns
a Piper Seneca II, holding a CAA PPL with IR and
a FAA CPL with IR. He is also a past world president
of the International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians,
a past vice chairman of the Jersey Aero Club and
a was a volunteer pilot and Midland region co-ordinator
of the St John Ambulance Air Wing set up for transporting
human kidneys for transplant.
Howell Williams
A Flight Instructor who is presently:
Director of the Board of the British Light Aviation
Centre;
Member of the AOPA Executive Committee;
Member of the AOPA Business and Flying Training
Policy Action Group;
Member of the AOPA Instructor Committee."
John Walker
A member of the AOPA Executive Committee who was
nominated as the Association representative on the
CAA's Light Aviation Airports Study Group set up
to review the regulation of smaller aerodromes.
He has also been actively involved in a working
group looking at the establishment and effects of
Public Safety Zones around aerodromes nominated
by the Government. With a background in aerodrome
management, he is available to assist the Association
in dealing with the numerous cases where aerodromes
are under threat of closure or facing undue operational
restrictions.
John Pett
Represents the owner pilot on the Executive Committee,
owner of an American registered Warrior operating
out of Henstridge airfield in Dorset and flies IFR
occasionally. He retired in 2000 as a Geologist
after 30 years with Shell International
He organises the AOPA Flight Instructor Refresher
Seminars and also deals with a wide range of NPPL
queries. He is a local magistrate and his hobbies
include wine collecting and Wodehouse.
Chris Royle
Chairman of the Member's Working Group, set up by
Martin Robinson a couple of years ago to draw on
grass roots opinions and ideas from the membership.
Currently, this very active group are involved in
updating the AOPA web site, developing the web
forum, the AOPA mentoring scheme and changes to
the AOPA Wings scheme.
Chris has been interested in aviation from an early
age, gained his licence in 1986 and has a PPL/IMCR,
he has logged 600 or so hours and owns a share in
a PA28-140 based at White Waltham.

CCFI/Manager, Elstree Flying Club 1952, becoming co-founder of the London and Midland Schools of Flying c.1960.
General Manager, the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, 1966 – 1980, continuing as consultant until 1992.

Regular display pilot and organiser 1951 – 1992
Co-founder of Vintage Aeroplane Club 1951
Author of 14 aviation books
Awarded OBE ‘for services to aviation’ 1994
Co-founding Director of BLAC Limited 1966 and co-founder of AOPA UK 1967. Continuous service since, becoming Chairman and, later, President. Now Past President.
