Who We Are

Any personal information provided to or collected by us is controlled by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association ("AOPA UK", "We", "Us") the trading name of the British Light Aviation Centre Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 874355), with a registered office at 50a Cambridge Street, London, SW1V 4QQ. We are a not for profit organisation.

What Information We Collect

When you place an order for goods or services, apply for membership, submit an online form, sign up or otherwise interact with the AOPA UK Website, we may ask you to submit personal data to Us as relevant for Us to be able to process and/or manage your requirements.

Details that are collected via forms submitted from this website will be stored on this website database and sent to AOPA UK for processing. Where relevant, your details will be stored on separate databases on AOPA UK systems for use by AOPA UK to process your requirements. The form data stored on this website database will be deleted when it has been fully processed by AOPA UK.

If you sign up for a user account on this website your details will be sent to AOPA UK in order to determine the validity of the user and set the relevant access privileges if you are, and remain, a current member of AOPA. This data will be stored on this website database. The user is responsible for maintaining any personal details, other than the access privileges which are managed by AOPA UK.

How We Use This Information

Your information is used to:

  • Organise and Manage your Membership and Membership Services;
  • Process your request and deliver any goods or services;

Online Payments

AOPA UK does not collect any payment data relating to your transaction. At the point that you select to make payment, data required by the payment gateway service provider to complete the transaction is transmitted securely from the AOPA UK website to the secure payment service. Any card details or login provided to the payment gateway service provider is never known by AOPA UK.

Currently the Payment Gateway used is PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A. You do not have to have a PayPal account to use this service.

Data Security

This website employs the latest TLS (Transport Layer Security) security protocol, confirmed by the HTTPS HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure) prefix.

Data collected by AOPA UK is held on secure systems at the AOPA UK offices and may be backed up to secure cloud storage services.

Who may see any of your Data outside AOPA UK?

In order to complete your order or provide your membership services, we may need to disclose some of your information to trusted third parties or services:

  • To deliver your AOPA Magazine we will share your Name and Address with the Publishers.
  • If you have elected to pay by Direct Debit we will share your Bank Account details with our BACS Service providers.
  • If you have purchased an FI Seminar we may share your Seminar Application details with Seminar presenters and the UK CAA.
  • If you order/book attendance at an AOPA UK Event we may need to disclose some of your details to the Organisers of the event.

Communications - AOPA UK

For membership management or to fulfil your order, our preferred method of communication is by Email. Therefore any form may set the Email field to Required. Unless you give consent for your Email to be used for other communications from AOPA UK it will only be used for the purpose it has been given.

As a member of AOPA UK we believe it is important that you are kept informed about aviation related issues. We therefore publish regular Enewsletters by email. We occasional publish additional Enewsletters for news updates or other items that we think are of interest to our members. We ask that you give Consent for your Email to used for this purpose.

You may also receive confirmation emails from AOPA UK when you submit online forms from this website.
