CAA - BREXIT Updates

The CAA have recently updated their BREXIT Micro-website for Private Pilots and Aerospace maintenance organisations (Subpart F).

In response to questions about the validity of UK issued LAPL's post BREXIT our current understanding is that if the UK leaves EASA, UK-issued LAPL's will only be valid for flying UK-registered aircraft in UK airspace. This is because the LAPL is a ‘sub ICAO’ pilot licence whereas the PPL is an ICAO compliant licence, so may be used outside the UK.

Use of a LAPL is restricted to EASA Member States, including Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway and Switzerland which are non-EU EASA Member States.
